Obituary for Vera M Smith
Vera M. Smith, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 13, 2023, at Preferred Care, Allenwood, with her loving family by her side. Vera was a lifelong resident of Wall Township and a 62-year resident of Allenwood, NJ. She was a graduate of Manasquan High School. After high school she married Arthur Smith and began to raise her family. Vera was an active member of the West Belmar United Methodist Church. There she taught Sunday School for many years. Her and her husband enjoyed traveling. Family was everything to her, she thoroughly enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and countless Sunday dinners.
Vera was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years Arthur Smith in 2017 and her newborn son James Robert in 1955. She was predeceased by her parents Nelson and Elsie Pembleton, and her two sisters Norma Pettit and Doris Manton, and brother-in-law Robert Robbins. She is survived by her loving children Deborah Newman and her husband Rick of Wall, and Doug Smith and his wife Peggy of Wall. Vera was the cherished grandmother of Brian and his wife Jessica, Bill and his wife Cait, Jamie and his wife Michelle and Patrick and his wife Katie, and great grandmother to Juliana, Addison, Lily, Nora, Will, and soon to be, baby boy. Vera is also survived by her sister Jean Johnson of Wall, and brother-in-law Raymond Pettit of Allenwood, and in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Spohn of Key Largo, Florida and Beverly Robbins of Ocklawaha, Florida. As well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday May 18, 2023, from 4-7 pm at Orender family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday May 19, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Glendola Cemetery, Wall, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to West Belmar United Methodist Church 1000 17th Avenue Wall Township, NJ 07719.
