Obituary for Phoebe Manger (Dolan)
Phoebe “Peggy” Manger, 96, born at Mrs. Gunther’s Nursing Home on Dunlewy St in Asbury Park passed away February 25, 2023 with her loving family by her side. Peggy was the first child of Lillian and Thomas Dolan. She graduated from Asbury Park High School and worked at Jersey Central Power and Light Co. for 14 years before her 5 children were born. She lived in Wall Township from 1960 until her death.
Peggy rejoins her beloved husband George who passed away in 2015 after 58 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her sister Mary Van Deren and her brother Thomas Dolan. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her five children: Kathleen Carlisle and her husband Alan, Joseph Manger and his wife Diane, Janet Manger, Karen Manger-Zupp, Anne Manger and her husband Steven Frank. Also, her grandchildren Nicole, Kristina and husband Stephen, Matt and his wife Becca, and Anthony. Along with three great grandsons Greyson & Aaron Manger & Tucker McCorkle. She especially considered herself blessed to have her niece Cindy Groves and her husband Jack as a special part of her life.
Peggy was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Neptune and St Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Avon. She worked for several years at the Wall Township Election Polls. She was the secretary of the PTA for Wall Central School during the years that her children attended.
A ceremony will be held at Brigadier General William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ in the near future. Arrangements are under the direction of Orender Family Home for Funerals.
At Peggy’s request, there will be no funeral service with sullen faces and sadness. She wants to be remembered as she was, vibrant, healthy and happy. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the wonderful team at Hospice Meridian of Wall. We consider them a part of our family and will be forever grateful for their support & kindness.
