Obituary for Michael J. Gabler

Michael Gabler, 35 years old, died suddenly on Sunday, Nov 6th, at home, just before leaving for work. He was born at Point Pleasant Hospital and grew up in Howell until 1997 when the family moved to Wall, NJ where he lived until his passing. Michael attended grammar school at Ardena and Allenwood Schools, then Wall Intermediate School and Christian Brothers Academy High School. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a BA majoring in Hospitality. Upon graduation he worked at Boston’s Restaurant, Otto’s Bar & Grill, and finally Jersey Mike’s Route 88 Brick where he was the store manager. Most recently he was working for Door Dash and had just accepted a new position at the USPS. Michael loved sports whether playing or as a spectator (“analyst & commentator”). He played soccer from an early age, and hockey throughout high school. His favorite college teams were Virginia Tech (VT) football and basketball. He especially enjoyed when VT would play head-to head against the Alma maters of his friends or family. His favorite pro teams included the Giants, the Devils, and the Mets. He was a loyal fan despite years of losing records. Michael loved his family and friends, he loved life, enjoyed cooking, and he loved to laugh and share laughs with those around him. He was generous, kind, and looked for the positive side in everything. He had a very special bond with his “twin” sister even though they were 2 years apart.

Michael is pre-deceased by his loving grandparents: Yvonne & Louis Loriquet and Theresa & John Gabler. He is survived by his loving parents, Ray & Martine Gabler, his loving sister Jacqueline Gabler (boyfriend Dr. Lardner Boyd, IV), his loving aunts and uncles Cindy & Keith Funsch, Paul & Lori Loriquet, and Louise Loriquet; his loving cousins Jameson Funsch (wife Kim), Candace Funsch (fiancé Travis Whitmill), Brittany Schicho (husband Andrew, daughter Madeleine), Kelsey Olsowski (husband Scott, son Logan), Eric Dawes; and his wonderful group of friends.
