Obituary for Maybelle Louis Kubar (Taylor)

Maybelle Louis (Taylor) Kubar, 89, of Ocean Grove, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2022. She was a New Jersey resident for 63 years. Known by Lou to her friends and family, she was born in in Central City, Kentucky. Lou grew up in Marion Illinois. She received her BS from Southern Illinois University in 1955 and then entering teaching in Blue Island Illinois. Lou moved to NJ in 1959 and started a family, residing in Colonia NJ for most of that time. She continued her education as well, earning a master’s degree from Kean College. Lou was a Physical Education teacher at Mount Vernon Elementary in Newark New Jersey from 1973 until her retirement in 1996. She was an active community volunteer in several organizations including girl scouts, youth sports coach and the PTA. Lou was fondly known by her family as a fierce competitor in sports and bridge, and helpful to anyone who was in need.

Maybelle was predeceased by her mother Jane and father Charles Taylor, and her brother Charles Taylor. Maybelle is survived by her daughters Linda-Jane Zdepski (Joel), Aime Kubar, son Avo Charles Kubar (former daughter-in-law Holley) and their father Avo Kubar. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren Larisa Zdepski, Jillian Zdepski, Linnea Zdepski, Peter Zdepski, Melissa McPartland, Louis Kubar, Austen Kubar, Wyatt Kubar and two great-grandchildren.
