Maryanne Elizabeth Gross passed away on April 23, 2023, after a brief illness. She passed peacefully with family by her side. Maryanne was born on September 19th, 1930, to John and Anna Kozel of Lakewood, Ohio. Maryanne and her younger sister Fran grew up in Clifton, New Jersey. Maryanne graduated from St. Elizabeths' College in 1952. She married John P. Gross on June 13, 1953. They had two sons, John Raymond, and Daniel Lawrence. The family moved down to the Jersey Shore in 1958, first to Bricktown and then settling in Brielle in 1967. Maryanne taught art, home economics and substituted at Brielle Elementary. She was also largely involved in the Brick Women's Club and President for many years in the Bayberry Garden Club of Brielle. She was an active alumni member of St. Elizabeth's University. She was also a cantor at St. Dennis Roman Catholic Church of Manasquan. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is predeceased by her husband John P. Gross and her sister Fran Kozel. She is survived by her two sons and their wives, John R. Gross (Helene) and Daniel L. Gross (Caroyln) as well as her grandchildren whom she loved, Melissa Jensen (Michael), Ryan Gross, Kelly McFadden (Joe), and Christopher Gross.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Friday April 28, 2023, from 4-7 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 am Saturday April 29, 2023, at Our Lady Star of the Sea (St. Denis Beach Chapel.) Interment will be private at St Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook, NJ.
