Mary La Russo Scannella, 103 years old, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Wellington Estates, Spring Lake, with her loving family by her side. Mary was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ where she lived for 80 years. She then retired to Leisure Village East in Lakewood, NJ for 17 years and finally moved to Wellington Estates, Assisted Living Residence for the last 5 years.

During the course of her life she enjoyed working in the Food Service Industry, which included years in the Elizabeth Public School system, Saint Elizabeth Hospital and Kean University. Mary loved to dance, read articles on healthy food and try new recipes to improve her cooking skills. She was artistic and creative and made long lasting friendships wherever she lived.

Mary was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Davis in 1959 and second husband Carmen Scannella in 1973. She was incredibly proud to be a grandmother of three and a great grandmother of 8 wonderful children. Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn and husband Joseph DeRosa of Manasquan, NJ; grandchildren Michael and wife Elizabeth DeRosa of Manhattan, NY; Robert and wife Alison DeRosa of Bernardsville, NJ and Christie and husband Leonard Benyola of Sea Girt, NJ. Mary's great grandchildren are Emory 21, Stella 19, Christian 15, Logan 15, Annabella 15, Mia 13, Jayda 12 and Maximus 5.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ. A funeral service will be 10:30 am on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the funeral home.
