Obituary for Margaret I. "Marge" Connolly (Irwin)

Margaret Irwin Connolly, a passionate and beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Marge, as she was known, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022, just 5 days shy of her 79th birthday. Born in Delaware County, Pennsylvania to Margaret Frazier and James Irwin, Marge was a graduate of Glassboro College and spent the majority of her life in Northfield, NJ in her home on Revere Avenue that she loved. She taught for over 25 years at Northfield Schools and the friends she made there became family, enriching her life with loyalty and laughter. Marge was honored with the Governor’s Award for Outstanding Teaching in 1994. A fierce and doting grandmother, Marge adored Molly, Jack, Charles, Katie, Aly and Sarah. Part of her legacy will be her razor-sharp wit and sarcasm passed down through generations of Connolly’s. In her later years, Marge moved to Avon by the Sea, NJ where she found a new community of friends to charm. She lived and laughed for many years with her daughter Colleen and granddaughters Molly and Katie until passing quickly after a recent illness.

Marge was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank Robert Connolly (deceased 1982) and survived by her children, Colleen of Avon by the Sea and Christopher and his wife, Karen of Northfield and their children. Marge is also survived by her brother, James Irwin, his wife Susan and their children and grandchildren.
