Obituary for Kevin Frederic Lindstrom

Kevin Frederic Lindstrom, 33, passed away January 1, 2023, in Boynton Beach, Florida at home. He was born March 21, 1989, in the city of Long Branch, NJ, Monmouth Medical Hospital. Kevin lived in Howell, NJ from 1989-1996, moved to Wall Township, NJ from 1996 – 2008, attended and graduated Wall High School from 2004 -2008. He attended and graduated Green Mountain College, Poultney, Vermont, 2008 – May 12th, 2012, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Kevin was employed as a cook at Dada Restaurant in Delray, Florida and had just completed his job December 22, 2022 and was going to start his new job the first week of January 2023, as a 6th grade enrichment teacher.

Kevin had a very good and bad life. Unfortunately he struggled with alcohol and drugs for all of his adult life. During his college years he volunteered at the college community gardens and believed in helping the earth. He met the love of his life Kat; they had a great relationship and grew very close. He was able to travel to Asia and hike the Himalaya mountains and started his teaching career at an orphanage for a short time. He fortunately was able to travel and see places around the world. He was able to walk on Abbey Road, in the footsteps of one of his favorite bands, the Beatles. He was able to go to Paris and see the Eiffel Tower. He traveled parts of the USA from Vermont to New Orleans and had volunteered at many community gardens in the Washington DC and Maine area. He experienced life to the fullest.

After college graduation, Kevin did his internship at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, as a researcher of humanities. After completing his Internship, Kevin and Kat decided to teach in Thailand and Vietnam, teaching English as a Foreign Language to young students. Kevin said it was one of the greatest experiences in his life. At this point he started to believe in the Buddhist way of life and religion.

When he and Kat returned, they missed the New England area and moved to Portland, Maine for many years, where he taught as a special needs teacher, helping children with disabilities. During the next chapter of their lives they moved to Florida so Kat could be closer to her family. Kevin worked as a counselor for Asian students, placing them and guiding them for success in the USA, but unfortunately the COVID-19 Pandemic ended all travel.

Kevin fought the demons of alcohol and drugs off and on for over 16 years and was in and out of rehabilitation, as he struggled to get past the addiction and disease. Seven months ago he decided to put the addiction aside and was able to stop the madness with the help of many kind people. Unfortunately, the pressures of life and this horrible disease won, and he succumbed to the challenges.

Surviving family members are Kevin's parents Frederic & Joanne Lindstrom, Wall Township, NJ; his sister Christine Lindstrom, North Carolina and his Aunt Linda Crone and her husband Tom, Virginia. Kevin is also survived by his three cousins Casey, Megan, and Devin and five great cousins. Kevin also leaves behind his best friend, Joe Lutz of Wall township.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 4pm - 6pm with a service to begin at 5 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
