Obituary for Kelly L. Moore

Kelly Moore, 45, of Belmar, New Jersey, died on March 4, 2023, at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center after a valiant eight-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Kelly was a tour de force — she had a magnetic personality, larger-than-life presence, and it was never boring to spend time with her.

Kelly’s greatest pride and joy was her beloved son, Dylan. Kelly and Dylan were thick as thieves from the start — they even shared the same birthday. Dylan was the center of her always-bustling universe. They lived a happy life in Belmar, surrounded by their dogs Chance, Darla, and Pika. Dylan is currently a student at Belmar Elementary School.

Kelly grew up in West Belmar with her mother, father, two sisters, and a veritable menagerie of animals including rabbits, birds, guinea pigs, and hamsters. Her grandparents all lived in the area during her youth; she was particularly close with her grandmother and namesake, Lillian Kelly. Kelly was always happiest when surrounded by her loved ones; one of her favorite traditions was gathering with her family on birthdays for pizza and cake (though Kelly only ate the frosting, never the cake).

Professionally, Kelly transformed countless lives as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer. Her legions of fans lovingly called her the “Burpee Queen.” Her highly sought-after classes and one-on-one sessions were high intensity, but she always made them accessible and inclusive. Over the years, she attracted legions of devoted followers whom she counted not merely as clients but as friends.

She is survived and deeply missed by her grandmother, Lillian Kelly of Point Pleasant, NJ; parents, Ken and Margie Moore of West Belmar, NJ; sisters, Jessie Moore of Philadelphia, PA and Bridget Moore of Los Angeles, CA; son, Dylan Theilen of Belmar, NJ; niece, Izzy Moore of Philadelphia, PA; as well as countless beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, including Kelly’s primary oncologist, Dr. Jason A. Konnor, as well as the incredible staff of Ackerman 5 South at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Kelly’s fabulous life, which will be held at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736 on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 1 pm - 3 pm with a service at 2 pm.
