Obituary for John F. Schloeder

John F. Schloeder, 63, of Wall Township went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2022, after a brief battle with lung disease. As a result, there’s a party goin’ on in heaven!

John was the devoted husband of Jo Smith Schloeder and the adoring and supportive dad to Jannah Schloeder Gee, whom he considered his greatest lifetime achievement. An animal whisperer, he was the constant companion to Kirby and several other loyal German Shepherds. He loved his family passionately, loved the Lord, and he found great joy in life.

John, an expert two-stroke mechanic by trade, had an honorary Ph.D. in People from life’s academy—he made friends wherever he went and always left knowing the small details of his new friend’s family, pets, business and what kept them up at night. He sincerely loved people, and they loved him back., he was funny, loyal and fervently generous in so many ways.

If you asked John what he enjoyed most in life, you’d no doubt hear stories of jet ski racing around the US and MX with Big Red Racing, a lifetime of motorcycle riding with friends who still call him Bones, playing guitar with Jo or accompanying Heidi singing worship music, being the fun dad on Jannah’s class trips, visiting his customers and colleagues at JESCO Wirtgen¬—many who became close friends—listening to live music, and spending time on the beach—any beach, any place it was warm.

Proud of his Italian-American roots, John moved to Wall at the age of nine and attended Wall High School and the American Motorcycle Institute. He was an elected Republican Wall County Committee member, and a member of Life Chapel in Point Pleasant. He volunteered with several non-profit organizations and did his best to make the world a better place.

John is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Theresa Schloeder. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Jo Smith Schloeder; daughter Jannah, and her husband Kirkland Gee who he proudly called son; his brother, Michael, with whom he lived; mother-in-law, Flo Smith; his Smith siblings Lynn, Chris, Deb, David, Bill and Amy; his sister Kathy Murray; and eight nieces and nephews.
