Obituary for John J. "Jack" Lee

John J. Lee “Jack”, 89, of Brielle, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. John was born and raised in Irvington, where he graduated from Irvington High School. As a boy and through high school, Jack worked alongside his father at the family owned gas stations Jack’s Tydol, in Hillside, and Union. In 1955 the family moved to the shore area to start Lee Battery Service. Lee Battery Service served the Jersey Shore community for 65 years until 2020. Jack along with his family built the business from one truck to one of the most successful battery distributors in the tri-state area supplying everyone from the local boat owner to marinas, local school districts and the State of NJ. Jack enjoyed dining with family and friends, singing Frank Sinatra songs at his numerous family BBQs, vacationing in Florida with his family and taking day trips to Atlantic City when he would “head south” with the love of his life Gayle. Jack attended Fellowship Chapel in Brick. He was also a longtime member of the Brick Elks.

Jack was predeceased by his parents John and Eleanor Lee. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Gayle (nee Mayer) Lee of Brielle. His loving children Jennefer Lee of Toms River, NJ, Laura DiPasquale and her husband Paul of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, and John J. Lee, Jr. and his wife Susan of Point Pleasant Boro, NJ. Jack was the cherished grandfather of Robert (Christine), Kimberly (Michael), Aimee (Brandon), Joseph (Kaitlyn), Jacqueline, Adam, John J., III (Danielle), and Matthew John (Samantha), as well as five great grandchildren Katie, Robert John, Henry, Aiden, Noah and His Sister Eleanor Jacko of Brielle NJ.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736. A funeral service will be held 11 am on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle, NJ.
