On Thursday, February 23, 2023, Agnes Catherine Koval passed away at her home in Toms River surrounded by close friends. She was 95 years old. Agnes was born to Adam and Anna Koval (nee Mika) on July 24, 1927, in White Haven, Pennsylvania.
She was predeceased by her parents; her best friend Jacqueline Holland; her friend Cyril Pretti; her brothers Joseph, George, John and Edward; sisters Margaret Koval, Mary Walton and Anna Bodnar; her nephews James Walton, Paul Bodnar, Edward Bodnar, and Robert Bodnar. Agnes is survived by nephews Adam Koval (Susan), Joseph Bodnar (Marianne); George Walton (Nancy), Thomas Walton (Jeed), Harry Walton; nieces Janet Saltarelli (Robert), Helen Nimbley (Arthur), Dorothy Trometer (Robert), Elizabeth Chaffardot (Thierry); close friends Corinne and Glenn Malmberg and Catherine and Edward Queenan.
Agnes and her best friend of 70 years, Jacqueline Holland, met in their early 20’s while co-workers at New Jersey Bell Telephone Company at Newark, New Jersey. In the years following their retirement, they were active in the New Jersey Bell Pioneers, the United States Navy Armed Guard Auxiliary, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Participating in these organizations, they traveled throughout the United States. They also enjoyed playing slot machines in Atlantic City.
Family and friends are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on Friday, March 10, 2023 at St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church, 1600 Rahway Avenue, Westfield, NJ 07090. The Interment will immediately follow Mass at 11:15 am at Fairview Cemetery and Arboretum, 1100 East Broad Street, Westfield, New Jersey 07090.
