Dr. Robert Fischer, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 3rd. Bob was born in East Orange and attended St. Peter’s Prep. He married Christella Clohosey in 1980, and they had two sons: Michael (’81) and Bobby (’83). They moved to Manasquan, NJ, in the early ‘90s and settled into the beach community where Christella had spent so much time as a child. They were married for 38 years before Christella’s passing in June of 2018.
He received his Bachelor and Master degrees from Seton Hall University and his Doctorate in Education from Capella University. In 1964, he began teaching at Seton Hall Prep in West Orange and taught there for 48 years, retiring in 2012. During his time at The Prep, he taught French, German, and all levels of History. He also served as Moderator of the French Club and Rifle Team. In 2002, he was named Teacher of the Year. His retirement notice in Seton Hall Magazine referred to him as, “A legend in the hallways.”
Bob leaves behind his brothers Joe and Edward, and his sons Bobby and Michael. He was followed by the spirit of debate and the world was subject to his quick wit until the end, the last of something bright still burning.
