Obituary for Claire Pender

Claire G. Pender, 88 of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ passed away on Monday December 25, 2017 at Care One of Wall. Claire was born in Kearny, NJ on July 10, 1929. She had lived in Jersey City for a short while before moving to Lyndhurst and returning to Jersey City where she attend 8th grade at PS #28 and then graduated from Dickinson High School. After her graduation she worked for Bell Telephone Co. as an information operator for a few years. Claire moved to N. Lavallette at 19. She waitressed for several restaurants in Lavallette, Seaside, Point Pleasant and also worked as a spotter at Parrot Club in Seaside, NJ. Claire attended art school in New York City. During the time of attending art school, Claire met Jack Gillmann and married him. She started Claire’s Florist, Ortley Beach and had lived in N. Lavallette (Martin’s Colony). They had their son Glenn in 1957 and moved to Point Pleasant Beach. She later met Bill Pender and married him. Claire worked at Point Pleasant Veterinarian Hospital for 36 years retiring in 2006.

Claire is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Glenn and Patricia Gillmann of Manasquan; two grandchildren Alyssa Gillmann and Gregory Gillmann and his wife Erin and her niece Carrie Gystukus and her family.
